Warning Description: Areal Flood Advisory Warning Date: 11:07 PM EDT on July 4, 2015 WarningSum: Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a * Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for poor drainage areas for... northwestern Caswell County in north central North Carolina... northeastern Rockingham County in north central North Carolina... southern Pittsylvania County in south central Virginia... the city of Danville in south central Virginia... * until 200 am EDT * at 1104 PM EDT...Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area. 1 to 3 inches of rain have fallen in this area from multiple storms since Saturday afternoon. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Eden... Blairs... Mayfield... and Danville City. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded roads make the smart choice...turn around...dont drown.
